Cyclone 2026: On January 31, 2026, a very violent cyclone struck Namakia, leaving behind considerable damage. Fortunately, no one was injured; however, many homes were destroyed or damaged. Families lost everything, and communal buildings such as schools had most of their roofs blown away. The few schools that escaped the cyclone were requisitioned to house the homeless. The school toilets, which were our first investment, were destroyed by falling trees.

On December 19, 2020, around 6 PM local time in Namakia, a significant fire engulfed several homes of street vendors. The residents, lacking firefighting equipment, used basins and buckets in an attempt to extinguish the fire, but to no avail. The street vendors are merchants who sell hardware, grocery, and clothing products year-round in Namakia, so the residents of Namakia do not have to go to Majunga. The vendors have taken refuge for now in the church and schools and are being assisted by the Complant company. On the eve of Christmas, this is a real nightmare for the entire city.
Thanks to the mobilization of several members of the association, we were able to quickly respond to the basic needs of the victims. This is how we purchased buckets, basins, brooms, cooking pots, bars of soap for showering and laundry, and cooking oil. The Complant factory was contacted by local officials to supply rice and sugar.
We would like to share with you the touching thank you message addressed by one of the victims during the distribution:
“These donations are a great help to us and allow us to partly solve our daily problems. You say it’s a little thing, but for us it is truly enormous. May God bless you and return it to you a hundredfold. Words fail me to express our gratitude, all I can say is THANK YOU, THANK YOU, and THANK YOU again. Please convey our appreciation to the president as well as to all the members of the association. You are not just friends but also, and especially, family to us. We are overwhelmed.”
